A Message From David Kinchler

Reliance Bank

The Community Bankers Association of Alabama, or as most of you know them as the CBAA, has played an important role in my development as a banker and contributed directly to the overall success that my bank has achieved over the years.  More importantly, the business contacts and friendships that I have developed during that time have been priceless.

The CBAA is an organization that is truly focused on helping banker’s both young and old.  Almost six years ago I became active with the CBAA through the Leadership Community Bankers Association, which is now known as the LCBA.   The LCBA is a great opportunity for young bankers to become involved with the association.  By networking with their peers and learning about the various products and services young bankers are able to provide a real benefit to their individual banks.  I would strongly encourage the senior leadership at our community banks to find the rising star within their respective organizations and get them involved with LCBA.

Being involved on the CBAA Services Board has also been a great experience.  Scott Miller has done a wonderful job of pinpointing what products and services would be beneficial for our member banks and working diligently on researching which company should be given the title “preferred provider.”   Utilizing the various companies that the CBAA Services Board has recommended I was able to add over $150,000 in non-interest income to my bank’s bottom line!

Lastly, I would be remiss if I did not mention the importance the CBAA plays in the political arena.  As a banker, I do not always have the appropriate time to talk with our state representatives about the legislative issues facing the banking community.  By contributing annually to the CBAA PAC, I can insure that those issues are being addressed.  Through the efforts of the CBAA Political Action Committee I am confident that my voice is being heard in both Alabama and Washington.

I guess what I am trying to convey is that the CBAA is a wonderful organization that does so much for me and my bank.  As bankers we understand return on assets and I promise you that whatever you invest into the CBAA your return will be ten fold.
